KIMERI

KIMERI is a new makeup brush brand of Hiroshima Artist Brush Manufacturing Co., Ltd., which has a long tradition and solid craftsmanship. Based on the concept of Otona Kawaii (mature - sweet), the brand offers makeup brushes with a completely new design, from foldable brushes with a wooden shaft to ice cream cone shaped brushes.
One of the themes is traveling. The brushes are designed to be foldable and easy to use even when traveling.

This echoes the history of Kumano and its merchants who used to travel the roads selling calligraphy material. We wanted to create a universal makeup brush that could protect the hairs without needing a case, while being easily washable and compact enough to be used anywhere.
The other theme was to implement Kawaii into everyday life through crafts.

Many brands have already created makeup brushes. We searched for a shape that is not only easy to use and stylish but also communicates with the brush itself, and came up with the shape of an ice cream cone cup, which is familiar to all of us. Sensing an ice cream cone immediately triggers the appetite. Shaped with the same relaxing from, our small brushes are like ice creams, with a soft and relaxing touch at the tip of the brush.
Two wood finishes are available: Zelkova, a Japanese wood with a beautiful grain and walnut, an American wood with a dark glossy color. The wooden shafts are individually processed by wood milling craftsmen. The small parts of the brushes are made from the scraps of the production of bowls and tableware.

MADE IN KUMANO, HIROSHIMA

The origin of the Kumanofude® dates back to the end of the Edo period around 1860. During the off-season, farmers would go to work and purchase brushes and sumi ink from the Kansai region and return home while peddling along the Sanyo Road. In 1975, brush making was designated as a national traditional craft, and the techniques and traditions have been handed down to the present, with a variety of brushes, including painting brushes and makeup brushes, being produced in Kumano Town.

There are currently more than 20 brush makers in Kumano, and nearly 10% of the residents are involved in brush making. The town is united as a production center in brush making, and can be said to be the best brush production area in Japan.

*"Kumanofude" is a collective trademark held by the Kumanofude Cooperative, and only brushes made in Kumano Town that meet certain conditions can use the trademark.

The process of sorting various types of bristles, thinning out unnecessary bristles, carefully and evenly mixing the bristles, and bundling them together is done by hand by skilled craftsmen. The beautiful craftsmanship that supports this traditional handicraft is the careful attention to detail down to the tips of the individual hairs. By using bristles that are cut for the first time, with the tips remaining untouched, the brushes obtain an exceptional quality. Kumano brushes are comfortable against the skin, delicate, moderately firm, and highly functional.

Highly praised by artists, they are exported to the United States, Europe, Asia, and other countries around the world. Since the texture and makeup application differ depending on the type of bristles, different types of brushes are used depending on the desired purpose.
